Classic Caravan Heading Home for Ford’s 100th Birthday

After chugging along at 15 to 35 miles an hour for 18 days, a caravan of 43 Model Ts will make a pit stop at a St. Johns Ford dealership in Lancing, MI.

The Tin Lizzies - part of Ford’s centennial celebration May 25 and are expected to be at St. Johns Ford Mercury Sales Inc. on June 11.

“We expect at least a couple of hundred people to be here,” said Frank Pauli, St. Johns Ford owner.

While drivers rest for a couple hours, the cars will be on display before they head to Grand Blanc. They are to make the final leg of their trip to Dearborn on June 12. Other classic Fords are expected to meet them at the dealership, including a few Model A’s, Pauli said. Ford Motor Co. is also expected to send regional representatives and local politicians will be invited, he added.

The Model T tour is part of Ford’s 100th birthday fete, which will be marked with a celebration in Dearborn June 12 through June 16.

It reaches 2,700 meandering miles over nine states and will take 19 days.

Thursday, the cars were in Utah, somewhere between the towns of Delta and Price.
