Volvo’s Hot Rod Jakob
The term “hot rod” usually doesn’t get used in conjunction with the word “Volvo” but there are always exceptions to the rule. Hence, the Volvo Jakob hot rod. The Jakob hot rod kicked off a world tour last month and has caused quite a stir having come from a company that pushes safety at every opportunity.
Volvo commissioned the hot rod as a homage to its first production car launched in early 1927. The official designation of this first car was ÖV4 (Open Car, 4 cylinders), but the vehicle came to be known as the Jakob. The new Jakob was built by Leif Tufvesson, who began work in 2005. The body is hand-formed aluminum and is powered by a modern high-performance Volvo T5 five-cylinder engine.
This still shot from the video below showcases the new and the old.
