c.1900 KARNS Roadster on eBay
This is one neat looking little buggy. According to the seller’s listing, three or four of these critters were built by one A.C. Karns between 1899 and 1904 near Everett, Pennsylvania. The car sports a water cooled one cylinder with a 2-speed transmission, chain drive and cable steering. The listing says there is evidence of tiller steering, so its hard to say what is original and what is not. Nine bidders have brought the price up to $15,100 with reserve not met and only 9 hours left in the running. Putting this car back to original condition could be impossible since production was so limited, the hood is missing, and very little has been written about it. Given its good condition, I think it would be tough to find a more unusual turn of the century project or preservation piece than this. Asking price seems to be $38,000.
