Benito Mussolini’s Alfa Up For Grabs
Benito Mussolini’s custom Alfa Romeo 6C 2300 Pescara Spyder will be auctioned by H&H on February 27, 2008. The auction will take place at England’s Cheltenham race course. The car features custom coachwork, a custom jump-seat, a motor tuned to 95-hp (up from 68), and an infamous previous owner. If infamy isn’t enough for you, in 2005 the car won the New York Concours d’Elegance and placed second in class at Pebble Beach. The estimated sale price comes in at around $1.5 million.
It amazes me a little bit that stuff like this survives the violent collapse of a regime. After watching the fall of Baghdad in the media, it seems as if just about anything worth a buck is either stolen, destroyed, or goes “missing” during the mayhem.
