1956 T-Bird Stolen in 1976 Returned
A 1956 Ford Thunderbird stolen from an auto repair shop in Palo Alto in 1976 has finally found its way home. The California Highway Patrol called the owner Ronald Leung on Thursday and informed him the car had been located after 31 years of being written off as history. Remarkably enough the T-Bird was not only in great condition, it had been restored somewhere along the line.
To make the story sweeter, the car was turned over to the California Highway Patrol by a woman who purchased the car on eBay. When she attempted to register the car she discovered the VIN did not exist. Suspicious, she called the cops. After locating the real VIN, the CHP located the rightful owner and long-lost car is due to be returned very soon. No word on the status of the lady who turned the car in. What a great thing to do.
