Rally Car, Believed 1 of 5, Apple Green, Frame off restoration partially finished/ RHD. I’ve got about 60 pictures. It is a very complete car with lots of spares. The seats you see have the original leather on them still (very good). Most all parts needed to restore the car are there. Original block and spare motor, hardtop, one original side curtains and one new set. Old top and a new one, overdrive transmission, rebuilt shocks to original race specs, tool kit and motor crank, shocks redone, frame restored and powder coated. New steering wheel, several horn/ turn buttons. Original alloy finned oil pan, new alloy valve cover, new wire wheels, brake parts, wiring harness, on and on with the new parts. Two things I do not have are the RHD accelerator pedal and the original brakes (I was told it came with Jaguar front disc brakes). We did re-body the car about 14 years ago as the original body was pretty rusty and banged up. I found a pretty clean West Texas car that was only about 200 numbers off of the original (TS22303 is the original VIN). Good title, original frame and body tags, the body panels are in very good condition. The original owner picked up this car in the UK and brought it back to the Chicago area to race it with Turtleback Racing Team. The 4 guys on the team had two TR3’s and two Austin Healey 100-4’s. He raced it mainly on rally tracks up north. Fairly successful for 3 seasons. The second owner (1960) told me he raced it in his first race at Elkhart Lake and came in third. He swears it was the car not him (drove it to the track, threw in two fifty pound bags of sand in the boot and he was ready). He also told me about the first owner and that the car had gone up Pikes Peak in 1959. I did confirm that a TR-3 was only raced up the Peak once in its history (in 1959). I have talked to Bill Pigott about this car and he believes as do I that it is the 5th rally car prepared in Sept-Dec of 1957. There was a registration number issued and never picked up in England (see his book on the Racing Triumphs). It was probably this car as the timing is perfect according to the build dates. The other 4 Apple Green Triumphs went on to win several major European races in 1958. He told me the records were too spotty from those years to be able to prove it. I do have the factory build sheet that shows the Rally equipment, but no works records or SCCA records from that era. I think I could get the SCCA records if I visited their state head quarters and went thru the records. This is a brief history. Let me know what else you need to know. Regards, Mark
