1923 Stutz Speedway Four Seven Passenger Touring
Chassis Number: 13424
88 Horsepower, 362 cubic inch displacement inline four cylinder engine and a three speed manual transmission on a 130 inch wheelbase. Stutz, one of the great names in automotive history is represented by this massive, four cylinder touring car. This extremely rare car is in original condition throughout.
One of two 1923 Speedway Four Touring cars known to exist, both cars have different coachwork so each is unique. This car resided in the legendary A. K. Miller collection until that collection was sold by Christies in 1996. It is believed that this is one of the last Stutz vehicles that Miller purchased in the 1950's from Tennessee. The car then was passed to a Stutz collector in Florida who basically just stored the car until 2009. Featuring the legendary twin-cam T-head 4 with twin ignition, this car was the highest horsepower car produced in 1923, even more powerful than the Duesenberg! The detachable head 4 is a rugged and reliable motor and is the pinnacle of Stutz engine development.
These cars are great driving cars, capable of todays highway speeds. This car has had the starter rebuilt as well as the fuel delivery system. The cooling system has been serviced with new hoses. The fuel tank has been relined. The ignition system has been rebuilt as well as the brakes. With a recent valve job, the car starts and runs great. Even the lights and gauges work.
