Porsche 911 Carrera 2/4, Black, for sale in Charlotte, North Carolina, for $34,995.
This 1995 Porsche 993 Carrera represents the last of the air-cooled 911s, and in many Porschephile's opinion, the best as well. The ultimate expression of the original design, with horsepower pushed to air cooling's limits and a wonderfully aero look to the classic 911 shape, this lovely Midnight Blue Pearl C2 coupe is perhaps the ultimate expression of what a 911 truly represents.
The purity of the 911's shape is one of the constants in the automotive kingdom, and the 993 seems to be the one that many enthusiasts, when looking for a late-model Porsche, appreciate most. With the same compact proportions as its predecessors, albeit augmented with aggressive fender flares as part of the Carrera, it is still instantly recognizable. And thanks to Porsche's exemplary build quality, the body panels fit extremely well and the doors close with a precision you're not likely to experience anywhere else. The Midnight Blue Pearl paint shows some signs of use, but it's clear that someone loved this car and took extremely good care of it, not to mention the high quality of the original materials.
Light gray leather is a nice contrast to the dark blue paint, and you'll appreciate the quality materials and single-minded dedication to performance. The gauge layout is the same setup the 911 has been using since birth, which positions the tach front and center, with all the other gauges playing second-fiddle. There are three oil gauges: pressure, temperature, and level. Watch them all, because the engine uses oil as both lubricant and coolant. Power seats may be anachronistic in a performance car, but this one has enough luxury to justify its original price tag. And unlike 911s of yore, this one offers powerful A/C, a great-sounding stereo, and a modicum of sound deadening materials for a comfortable ride when you're not running hard.
You will undoubtedly find that it is difficult to keep your foot out of the 3.6 liter flat-six's ample power and listening to its distinctive combination of intake growl and cooling fan whoosh, as well as the bellow from the recent stainless steel exhaust. Although this one shows over 100,000 miles, these were cars that were built up to a standard, not down to a price, and high-mileage 911s are common and not cause for alarm. Air-cooled 911s are justifiably famous for being stubbornly bulletproof. Of course, there's a set of incredibly powerful brakes living behind those gorgeous 18-inch Porsche Cup wheels, and these have been upgraded to 225/40/18 front and 265/35/18 rear tires, which makes the 993 almost perfectly balanced if you're skillful enough to handle it. This one also offers a power chip for a few extra horsepower, as well as service records to set your mind at ease over the mileage.
Nice 993s never last on the open market, and are even more in demand today than when they were new. Call now!
