About Porsche
COMPANY
Sophisticated. Sporty. Luxurious. These three words can easily depict many things. But when it comes to cars, these three words easily describe Porsche. The Porsche brand hit the market in 1931 founded by Ferdinand Porsche. Ferdinand Porsche was an Austrian automotive engineer and renowned Doctor of Engineering. In 1931 the company was called Dr. Ing. h. c. F. Porsche GmbH. Initially, the company did not manufacture automobiles under its name. Even though the Porsche Company did not make cars under its own name yet, the company was manufacturing cars to compete in motor races. In 1933, Porsche developed a Grand Prix racecar. This racecar was one of a kind, in that it had a rear engine and a 16-cylinder engine.
In 1948, the company produced its first sports car bearing the Porsche name. The car was named Porsche No. 1 and won in the car race at the Innsbruck Stadtrennen. The Porsche name is synonymous with speed and it has the ability to reach high amounts of speed effortlessly. The Porsche 911 is a classic car that brilliantly shows off its powerful speed. The Porsche 911 was raced in the Internationale Automobile-Ausstellung in 1963 under the name of Porsche 901. It took several months for the car to be manufactured for sale to customers after the race. 82 cars were manufactured under the 901 name until Peugeot, a French car maker, disputed the name of the car. He did not want to use a 3-digit number with a zero in the middle to represent the car. So, Porsche replaced the "0" with a "1" and hence the name, 911 was born.
The 911 Porsche is a 2-door coupe sports car that packs luxury and high speed. The 911 Carrerea RS may very well be one of the most popular 911s. The 911 Carrera Rs was built with the racing criteria in mind. This 1970s product used a large sized engine that allowed the car to produce 207-brake horsepower. This allows the car to easily stretch out on the road and reach a top speed over 170 mph. The 911 is sleek and comes in various colors. This classic car has been gaining popularity with celebrities and is often used in movies and television shows. Movies that the classic 911 has appeared in include 'Dumb & Dumber' and 'Scarface'. So, if you feel the need to speed or would like to feel like a celebrity, purchase a classic Porsche 911.
