1957 Pontiac Star Chief Safari, White, for sale in Erie, Colorado, for $29,700.
In 1957 all Pontiac wagons had the name "Safari". This California example, however, is the much rarer Transcontinental version, a notable visual cue being its extra rear lower quarter strip that recalls the Bonneville. The two-tone Fontaine Blue and Kenya Ivory finish was part of a frame-up restoration performed in the Nineties, which included a complete mechanical overhaul. Pontiac power comes in the form of the 347/270 HP V-8 and Hydra-Matic transmission. Leather seats, including the reclining passenger seat, tinted glass, radio and chrome luggage rack are just part of this classic Poncho’s extra equipment. Highlights: - Fontaine Blue and Kenya Ivory with Blue and White leather interior - 1,894 total production (for all 4-door wagons) - 347/270 HP engine - Hydra-Matic transmission - Carter AFB four barrel carburetor, also some Rochester 4GC type - Power steering and brakes - Spinner hubcaps, whitewall tires - Roof rack - Reclining passenger seat - Push button radio, rear antenna - Outside rearview mirrors - Door handle guards - Tinted glass
