VERY RARE 4-SPEED MATCHING NUMBERS CAR WITH ONLY 48,446 MILES AND FULLY RESTORED BY PISCAZZI RESTORATIONS IN AKRON, OHIO. This was one of Joe Piscazzi"s personal cars before he had to sell his collection. Piscazzi has restored cars for Jay Leno, Ralph Lauren, and has had entries at Pebble Beach; he really was that good.
The original XZ-code 400 Hi-Perf engine has been professionally rebuilt by R&R Engine & Machine in Akron, Ohio(receipts included) and fitted with a performance hydraulic camshaft, new 10.5:1 pistons, all new bearings, and the original 670-casting heads were ported & polished. The original intake manifold, original exhaust manifolds, and original chrome aircleaner assembly were retained and the original Carter AFB 4-barrel carburetor was rebuilt. Factory rated higher than the GTO at 350 horsepower (now easily producing 380-390); this is a very strong running car. Starts right up and settles into a lopey idles with a deep aggressive exhaust note from the dual free-flow exhaust. There are no mechanical issues; no smoke, no leaks, no noises; and operates perfectly on premium pump. Pulls HARD through the rev range and runs every bit as strong as a GTO or other contemporary muscle car. The original M20 4-speed manual transmission shifts perfectly and both the transmission & shifter was rebuilt by AVG Transmissions in Boardman, Ohio (receipts included). The factory 3.23 positraction rearend has had new seals and fresh lubricant and provides a nice balance of powerful acceleration & relaxed cruising. Power steering and power brakes for safe easy driving.
Original black bucket seat interior with the center console & factory Hurst shifter in excellent condition. No wear on the seats, no wear on the carpets, no wear on the interior door panels. Excellent original dash with no cracks and no sunfade on the instruments. Factory AM radio in place. No cracks in the steering wheel rim. The padding in the seats is still firm and comfortable. These cars have a lot of room and are perfect for back seat use (I know what you"re thinking; not that kind!!). Very nice interior.
Excellent body with no dents, no dings, no waves. The floor pans & trunk pan are all original and the frame was sand blasted before being sprayed with chassis black paint. The only metalwork that I can find is several small metal repairs expertly welded into the lower edges of the rear quarters and can only be found with a flashlight upon scrutiny from inside the trunk. Piscazzi did this car on a rotisserie and the underside is beautifully finished in satin black chassis paint with no surface rust anywhere; it is worthy of mirrors showing the underside at shows.
Excellent paint done in correct Signet Gold (also known as Tiger Gold) base/clear acrylic urethane and then block sanded & buffed to a smooth glossy shine. This is a very popular Pontiac color back in the muscle car days and was used on the Hurst show cars. Brand new Ivory convertible top with the glass rear window; operates quickly & smoothly at the press of the button. Show chromed front & rear bumpers. Factory hide-away headlights; all rebuilt and working perfectly. Rear fender skirts (for that long low look). Brand new Keystone Klassic chrome mag wheels with new P215-65-15 raised-white-letter BFGoodrich T/A Radials.
Paperwork includes full Pontiac Historical Society documentation including the build sheet & window sticker plus all of the receipts for the restoration and mechanical rebuild. Just professionally buffed & waxed and turnkey ready for cruises & shows. Runs & drives perfectly and looks like brand new.
1967 is the only year that a Grand Prix convertible was produced with fewer than 200 factory XZ-code 4-speed convertibles made. VERY RARE CAR.
