Big Pontiacs are big news these days, and this incredible low-mileage 1964 Catalina convertible with its matching numbers 389 under the hood is a luxurious cruiser with the heart of a GTO. Many Pontiac fans will point to the mid-60s as the high point of Poncho styling, and I'm inclined to agree. You'll also have to agree that the dark blue finish on this car, which was done just a few years ago, is the perfect choice. All the sheetmetal is 100% OEM, and just sighting down this car's flanks, you can tell that it is extra clean and never rusty. Panel gaps are as the factory did it, with great shut lines and a feeling that you can only get from a car that has been pampered all its life. Chrome and stainless are likewise excellent, with bright bumpers fore and aft, as well as that beautiful trademark Pontiac split grille.

There's more proof of this car's exceptional condition inside, where you'll find the original tri-tone blue upholstery. No, not original style, but the actual vinyl that was installed by the factory back in 1964. Yeah, it's every bit as nice as it looks in photos. There are a few areas that might show some dryness, but this car is remarkably well preserved and it's obvious that all three owners have taken very good care of it from the very start. The original carpets are in good condition, showing only light fading and wear, the dash pad is remarkably undamaged. Only the clear Lucite steering wheel shows its age, perhaps more due to flexing than any UV damage, but as an original piece, I'd personally be inclined to leave it alone. The original AM radio is fully functional, and as a full-sized luxury cruiser, this one also offers a power convertible top, power steering, power brakes, and an automatic transmission, so sit back and enjoy the cruise.

Given the potent 389 cubic inch V8 under the hood, however, you might be inclined to start some trouble as well. Nicely detailed in Pontiac Turquoise, the engine bay is another reflection of the car's easy life. It fires almost instantly and idles with a very throaty rumble through a dual exhaust system. There are a lot of new components under the hood, including all the maintenance items, so this one is ready to go without any additional time or money required, and it has been fully sorted. Also note the rust-free inner fenders and firewall, as well as the dry, clean chassis that shows exactly zero rust issues. Adding to this car's appeal are a set of rare 8-lug wheels wearing recent 225/70/14 whitewall radials, which only add to this muscle car's disguise.
