Plymouth Duster, Orange, for sale in Charlotte, North Carolina, for $33,995.
Light weight and big horsepower is the basic recipe for going fast. If you're a Mopar fan, the Duster makes the perfect foundation for a street/strip terror. It's stylish, light, and can accommodate just about any chunk of iron up front you can build. This particular 1970 Duster sports a fantastic Burnt Orange Metallic paint job, an amazing 440 Wedge engine that cost more than $18,000 all by itself, and a heavily modified chassis to hook up all that power. No, it's not subtle, but it's not outrageously over-the-top, either, and the modifications are 100% from the Mopar family. Detailed like a show car, the paint and bodywork are amazing, with impressive fit and finish, especially considering the massive upgrades underneath. Burnt Orange is definitely back in fashion today, and looks brilliant on the Duster's 40-year-old body. The blacked-out hood is a tribute to the A12 Road Runners, and that big scoop isn't just for show. And since you're not planning on sneaking around anyway, a correct style 440 Wedge decal on the hood is a strong deterrent to would-be street racers lined up next to you.
Inside, the interior is show car cool, not race car basic. Original bucket seats keep it civilized, while leather accents throughout add a custom look. The dash has been fitted with a full array of Auto Meter Sport Comp gauges, and a custom-made center console houses a powerful AM/FM/CD stereo with speakers stashed throughout the interior. The full roll cage features swing-out door bars so this car is still capable of being driven comfortably on the street, although the 5-point harnesses suggest that it's ready for something a little more intense. In the trunk, the massive wheel tubs have been expertly disguised under a hand-fabricated enclosure that also hides the stereo electronics, battery, and subwoofers, all tied together in black and Burnt Orange trim.
In the horsepower department, it's a real-deal 440 Wedge built for competition at a cost of more than $18,000. The obvious stuff includes a Mopar intake with a Demon carb up top, as well as an MSD ignition system, but inside it's all high-quality hardware designed for the track. The engine bay has been beautifully finished to match the body, and anything that doesn't make the car go faster has been removed to save weight. Fabricated aluminum valve covers are definitely race equipment, and those gorgeous long-tube headers are like sculpture, feeding an exhaust system that uses SpinTech mufflers. A race-prepped TorqueFlite spins a narrowed 8.75-inch rear, and the suspension has been upgraded commensurate with the horsepower. Completely detailed for show, the floors have been finished to match the body, and it all remains in outstanding condition. 4-wheel Wilwood discs manage big-end speed, and it rolls on Weld Pro-Stars wearing 30x12.50-15 Mickey Thompson meats.
This is one of those cars where we don't have enough space to cover all the amazing details. To hear more about every part of this spectacular car, please call us today!
