Project Classic 50 Ply 65% Compleate, for sale in Beaumont, California, for $4,000.
I have a 1950 Plymouth Deluxe Sedan 4 Door for sale or trade (63 years old). The body is in good shape, engine is all complete and intact (6 volt, straight six, three on the tree). It turns over but will not start. I checked the compression and the number one piston was low. It may need to have the engine rebuilt or maybe it just may need new rings on that one piston, or it may be something minor. It also is not getting any gas to the carb. It has been parked for about 4 years in my garage, (I have it on a Non-OP with the California DMV) it was running perfect before I had to park it, due to one hot summer day it overheated on me and I blew the head gasket. I actually did not know that the head gasket was blown, until I checked my oil and the oil looked milky. It was still running strong and did not notice anything out of the ordinary. I eventually changed the head gasket on it, and it did start a few times, by this point it felt a little heavy at starting and it was throwing out white smoke and also had a strong odor of gas fumes. Before the head gasket blew on my bombita I had done allot of mechanical and cosmetic things to it, and purchased many parts for it. Some of these parts were very hard to find due to the age of the vehicle. I had the carburetor rebuilt, installed a new water pump, fuel pump, oil pan gasket, replaced belts, installed original AM radio, replaced radiator, bought allot of chrome stripping that it was missing (almost all chrome stripping had to be replaced because much of it was gone), had to manufacture a gas tank, installed a single cherry bomb exhaust system, replaced a new battery, put some smoothie rims (baby moons) on it, and I also had it lowered (very low). For the last couple of months I have tried to start it but all it does is turn (I am getting a spark and firring order is correct) over but will not stay running. I am not sure if the condensation from the head gasket getting blown may have caused the rings to seize from water that may had set in the engine, due to the fact that it sat for so long, or there could be other engine problems, but I believe it is not nothing major. The good thing about these straight six engines is that they are easy to work on. When I purchased this auto it was in bad shape, windows were missing, had no gas tank, needed a distributor, it was basically falling apart. Throughout the years I did a little at a time, but I just don’t have the patience, money or time to continue with this project. It does also have a little cancer on the driver side floor board. I am sure with some TLC this baby will be back on the road in no time. I really hate to get rid of her but I have no time and especially money to finish her. I have had this classic car for 17 years and when it drives it picks up and goes, drives like a champ. 13 of those years I never had a problem with her. I really don’t want to get rid of her, but I can’t afford to put no more money into it. It is currently premiered so it will need a paint job and also the upholstery needs to be done. This is a good project car for someone that has the time and money to finish it. I am asking $4000.00 OBO, or I will definitely trade for a running Low Rider with hydraulics or Air Bags (NO JUNK PLEASE, THIS IS A CLASSIC CAR AND FOR THE PRICE IT IS A STEAL). Buyer is responsible for pick-up of car and it is being sold as is. (I am willing to trade for Buick Regal, Cutlass Supreme, Chevy Glass House, Lincoln Town Car, Chevy Impala, Chevy S-10, or other Bagged Trucks etc.). PLEASE ONLY SERIOUS BUYERS. I WANT CASH ONLY / TRADE ONLY, NO CHECKS, CASHIERS CHECKS, and NO EBAY / NO PAYPAL. Thanks for looking and I hope she goes to a good home. God bless. Ask for Rigo.
