Plymouth Barracuda, Gold, for sale in Charlotte, North Carolina, for $28,995.
This is a clean 3-owner 1972 Barracuda - code BH23 - 2-door hardtop with only 36000 documented original miles! This car is beautiful with one repaint in the original color. Under hood is a matching numbers, code #E44 - 318 cid V-8 engine and automatic TorqueFlight transmission. The fender tag confirms that the paint, code #GY8 - Gold Leaf metallic over code #BH23 tan vinyl interior and black racing stripes on the sides is factory correct. This car is extremely well documented with a factory build sheet, broadcast sheet, original warranty paperwork, owner's manual, dealer's brochure and much more. All body panels except for the hood are original. Fit and finish are excellent, just as was expected from the Hamtramck Michigan assembly line in 1972.
The fender tag also confirms that this car was well optioned with power steering, rally wheels, bucket seats, white-lettered tires, factory air conditioning, a code #D34 TorqueFlight automatic transmission, roof drip moldings, rear deck spoiler, full door panel, 26 radiator, tinted glass, seat belts and much more. The only change from the factory body is the addition of the dual scoop hood to replace the original flat hood. The original flat hood is still available if you desire. The spare has never been on the ground and it doesn't appear that the trunk was hardly used. Very little wear inside the car. Records show that only 7828 cars were built with this body style. And very few exist today and certainly not in this condition. This is a very solid car from bumper to bumper.
In the mid-sixties many automobile manufactures were looking at new ideas in the personal and specialty car segments. The Plymouth Division was slow to enter this untapped market for a bigger than the, pony car size. The designers were given an outline and sent back to their studios. And when they showed up at the boardroom with this profile, approval was granted right away. Fastback styling, low and wide looking. Perfect. It was reported that they now could take on the other Detroit boys. This is what the marketing people were looking for. The size in now known as the E size and it wasn't long before they hit the show rooms. They gained popularity fast. All kinds of fancy colors and many options. Big engines. Lightweight materials, delete categories and so forth. Orders came in from all over the country. Before long they appeared on the race car circuits and the saying held true. What won on Sundays sold on Mondays.
This is a factory correct Barracuda that is fun to drive as it is hot looking. Take a good look at the pictures. Lines are crisp and tight. The car stands tall, no sagging of body or suspension parts. This car has great eye appeal and has been meticulously maintained and shows well with its glossy paint and rally wheels. This is an American Classic, a car that will be talked about for years to come. Great color and investment potential. If you are looking for a fun car to drive down the back roads, or show, this 1972 Barracuda is for you. Call us today!
