The valve seat heights were measured from the deck using a dial indicator and deck bridge with the result representing the depth below deck surface. The numbers for this block ranged from:Intake high side - .018" to .030". Intake low side - .220" to .235". Exhaust high side - .019"-.026". Exhaust low side - .219"-.226". To put this into perspective, should I not install new seats and wanted to cut a level relief (paralell to the deck) into the cylinder from the intake valve seat edge, I'd be looking at a .235" cut from the intake valves to the cylinder.
