1981 Datsun 280ZX 5 spd, all original, Blue, for sale in Grand Forks, North Dakota, for $5,950.
I have to sell my sweet old 1981 280-ZX because of shoulder problems making it too hard to drive. I am the second owner and I had planned to drive it another 100K, so had a Datsun-trained Z mechanic "make it new" in terms of replacing basically everything that might wear out after its first 160K miles. This was all done over the last ca. 20K miles, and included the clutch, air regulator, plugs and wires, idler arm bushings and ball joints, fuel computer, ss exhaust, starter, water pump, all hoses and belts, etc. The only thing I can think of that wasn't replaced was the struts (which still seem ok to me). He also measured the compression, and found 175 psi (new specs) in every cylinder. There are no oil leaks, and all the window, door, and T top gaskets don't leak. The body was professionally re-done and painted about 20K miles ago, and the body is still nearly rust free. ALL (and I mean all) of the gadgets, gauges, original cassette/radio etc.) work fine. Everything is original, except I had to put in an after-market power antenna. The original spare tire has never been used, and even the wheel-chocks are still in their plastic. It also has the original T-top covers--both the shades that go inside to block the sun, and the covers used to store the T-top. This is only Z that I've ever seen that does NOT have cracks in the dashboard. The upholstery and carpet are also in good condition. All glass is good, and so are the tires. I have always stored it inside during winter, as did the previous owner. The NADA "average" book price is $8650, and even though this car is way above average, I'm only asking $5950 since I want to find it a good home.
