With over 10,000 visitors attending last year's Concours d'Elegance at the Fairfield Country Hunt Club in Westport, Connecticut, it was a shock to organiser John Shuck when he was told that the show would need to find a new venue for 2012.
Classic cars and huge crowds descend upon the event each year and over $100,000 has been raised for a local charity since the show first started back in 2004.
However, Mr Shuck told Westport Now that he has been forced to look for somewhere else to hold the event next year because in its current form it was putting too much strain on the resources of the current venue, which is not really geared towards dealing with such significant numbers of visitors.
Mr Shuck said that he had previously considered scaling down the size of the show because the classic cars and enthusiasts were coming in greater numbers than he had ever anticipated. He is also sympathetic to the club, because the show takes over for a whole week each September, while the members try and get on with life as normal, which is impossible.
