Start your classic car cruise on historic Route 6

While Route 66 certainly gets all of the big-time credit when it comes to being the major highway to stretch almost from coast-to-coast across the United States, the truth of the matter is that historic US Route 6 is the very first stretch of pavement road to go all the way across the United States. It wasn’t all that long ago that almost every state, city, and Township near Route 6 was fighting in clamoring to try and get in on rampant and offering to connect to Route 6 though today the historic highway is almost all but forgotten. However, there is a big revival in the last few years by classic car enthusiasts to rebuild that sense of Americana that classic cars helped to establish – and none of them are doing more than the River to River Classic Car Retro Road Trip. Comprised of nearly 100 participants (at last count with the number continuing to climb on an almost daily basis), the classic car cruise is going to start in downtown Davenport, Iowa on August 23 and cruise west until the participants hit Omaha, Nebraska. If you love all things vintage automobile and are in the area, you also may want to look into this once in a lifetime experience an event!
