While it’s not often that you see any vintage automobile museum sell off some of their classic cars (in fact, it’s probably only happened a handful of times in the last few decades), the truth of the matter is that the Peterson Automotive Museum understood that the best way to raise the kind of funding they needed was to do just that.
Putting a number of other vintage automobiles “up on the block” not only allowed them to help community collectors and vintage automobile enthusiasts from all over the world get their hands on a number of rarities and they may never have been able to otherwise, but it also contributed directly to the Peterson Automotive Museum renovation project.
With plans to completely gut and renovate the entire museum (as well as expanded in a number of ways), it was necessary to raise a considerable amount of funding for the project. While they are still just a bit short of their goal as far as the funding is concerned, all signs point to the Peterson Automotive Museum auction the one of the most successful in recent history. The people behind the Peterson Automotive Museum are certain that they will secure the rest of funding, and should be back to regular operations inside of just a few short months.
