From time to time a classic car which is memorable not just for its automotive legacy, is put up for sale, which is precisely what occurred last month when an out of the ordinary 1970 Plymouth Barracuda was on offer.

This Barracuda is known as the Nash Bridges #1, because it appeared in the TV show of the same name, which starred Don Johnson and Cheech Marin and ran during the tail end of the 1990s.

Of course while the detective portrayed by Johnson in the show drove a number of different examples throughout the run, as is the way with TV productions, this particular model has been extensively renovated and repaired throughout the years, to keep it in tip top condition.

This has included two full restorations, updating the bodywork from a 1970 model to the '71 kit and even pulling out the 340 V-8 engine from under the hood and replacing it with a 426 Hemi engine, which improved the performance, while perhaps damaging the car's reputation as a collectors' item.

However, the car was placed up for sale via auction site eBay and after 42 bids, the top offer was $91,100. This was not enough to meet the reserve placed on it, which reflected the expense of the restorations and its pop culture value.
