This year marks the 50th anniversary of the creation of the iconic Porsche 911, so it is interesting to see that this landmark was celebrated by Mini this month.
While the Mini Cooper may be a long way from matching the performance of even a classic 911, Auto Evolution points out that these two cars are not entirely dissimilar from one another.
The closet link is that both models have stayed with the same basic designs for many decades, as well as retaining the essence of driving fun from the early days.
A press release from Mini marking the occasion of the 911's 50th anniversary noted the similarities between the two vehicles and said that it is the youthful exuberance of both models that has kept them going over the years.
A Mini Cooper is a much more affordable classic to track down than a vintage Porsche 911, as well as being a bit cheaper to restore and run. The press shots published by Mini, which show one of its older iterations sitting alongside an ageing 911, prove that these are two equally spirited classics, that deserve the love and adoration that they have received over the years.
