Million dollar Mustang

A classic 1967 Ford Mustang GT sold this month at auction for a staggering price of $1 million, making it one of the most expensive muscle cars of all time.
The car in question was the same Mustang that took part in the filming of the Hollywood blockbuster, Gone in 60 Seconds, a little over a decade ago, with Nicolas Cage behind the wheel of the car his character nicknamed 'Eleanor'.
Eleven different Ford Mustang GT examples were used throughout the filming of the movie back in 2000 and this particular car was last sold at auction back in 2008.
With a V8 engine developing 400bhp, this is definitely still endowed with a decent amount of muscle, while its Hollywood credentials certainly helped to bump up the price when it went under the hammer at the Dana Mecum 26th Original Spring Classic Auction, held in Indianapolis.
The car is in pristine condition even all these years after its starring role and the $1 million paid for it will probably feel like a worthy investment.
If muscle car values continue to climb then they could be seen as an even sounder bet by enthusiasts looking to spend some cash.
