Magic City, classic cars

A new TV drama airing on the Starz network is ambitious in its aim of bringing 1959 back to life in 2012, with decades of change making it tough for producers to recreate the atmosphere of Miami as it was all those years ago.
One of the ways in which this has been achieved is through the use of many classic cars throughout 'Magic City', a series which follows the life of hotel manager, Ike Evans, as he deals with personal dramas and the wider backdrop of Castro's rise to power in Cuba and organised crime dominating South Florida.
As well as classic cars of all kinds, from drop tops to station wagons and trucks, the production team also had to find more mundane items, like telephones and appropriate furniture, to fit the 1950s setting.
Of course not everything can be sourced from such a long time ago and so exterior shots had to be edited using CGI, in order to wipe out any anachronisms.
For many, the 1950s was a golden age for the American auto industry and vehicles from this era can still be found well-preserved by enthusiasts, or kept on perpetual life support, patrolling the streets of Havana, Cuba.
