Auto manufacturers are generally quite happy to root around in their back catalogues and revive old marques for a new generation, with varying levels of success.
A new list from Fox News has decided upon the five best modern remakes of classic cars for sale at the moment.
Placed third is the 2005 Ford GT, which is arguably the most faithful recreation of its mid-1960s predecessor.
Of course, the Ford GT is fast becoming a classic in its own right, with its supercar credentials and vintage good looks allowing it to stand out from its European contemporaries.
Top position was handed to the Dodge Challenger SRT8, which was praised for its similarly impressive combination of classic styling and modern technology.
Each of the cars in the list shows that there is still a passionate level of appreciation for classic cars of bygone eras, with newer remakes allowing modern buyers to get a current generation vehicle which has been built around a more traditional ethos.
Hopefully, the Ford GT and other classic remakes will continue to inspire future generations of auto makers and keep the American dream alive in the many decades to come.
