Dukes of Hazzard car charges into auction

The Dodge Charger featured in 1980s TV hit Dukes of Hazzard is going on sale at an auction in California this week.
Of course there were many different copies of the Charger, nicknamed General Lee in the show, but only a single one of the estimated 256 remains on the market.
The vehicle was based on a 1969 edition and because it was officially used as a stunt car, it still bears the marks, dents and distortions which this job endowed upon it. Of course while this might be a problem for some classic cars, in this situation it actually adds character to the vehicle.
The Charger had been in the possession of a former stunt driver and was subsequently sold ten years ago to someone who did a little restoration work but, ultimately, decided that the damage accumulated during filming would not be repaired.
The auctioning of the vehicle alongside other classic cars at the Icons of Hollywood event is expected to net the current owner over $60,000. However, with the nostalgia and popularity associated with the show and the iconic car at its centre, heated bidding could push this even higher on the day.
