Fashion designer Ralph Lauren has owned many classic cars over the years and now he is selling scale models of the top vehicles in his collection for a premium price of $9500 a pop.
Amongst the collection of scale model classic cars for sale are a Bugatti 57 SC Atlantic Coupe, bought by the designer in the late 1980s and a Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa.
The high price of this 1:8 scale model is being justified by the inclusion of a certificate of authenticity, as well as a unique number for each, giving them something special for collectors to bargain with in the future.
The physical details of each vehicle have been painstakingly mirrored from their real life counterparts using digital capture techniques, which means they are accurate down to within a fraction of a millimetre.
In total the average amount of time it takes for one model to be completed is 350 hours, although the scanning of the vehicles itself and the finalisation of the initial batch was the result of over 3,000 hours of work by a team of experts.
Even the wheels and hubcaps are constructed from hundreds of individual components, so these classics are a little more impressive than off-the-shelf Hotwheels items.
