Two new top 10 lists, which identify the best classic muscle cars and their most appealing modern equivalents, have been created by Total Car Score.

The muscle car is an American obsession and one which many auto enthusiasts share, so it is no surprise to see that some classic examples can fetch big bucks when put up for sale.

Heading up the classic list in first place is a 1969 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1, which is valued at $425,000, while the rest of the top 10 contains other vintage examples, including a 1969 Dodge Hemi Charger Daytona and a 1968 Ford Mustang GT500KR.

If you love muscle cars but want something that is a little more modern and affordable than these high rolling classics, then the alternative top 10 might provide some food for thought.

This was topped by a 2000 Ford Mustang Cobra R, which retails at around $30,000 on the used market. You can also find a quality 2004 Mercury Marauder for as little as $15,000, which is why this model managed to take the number three spot.

There are plenty of muscle cars both old and new to give your devotion to, it is just a matter of choosing the right one.
