Classic Ford Model T sold

2012-09-17

A Ford Model T, which had been sitting in a showroom at the center of a small Virginian town for nearly 60 years, was sold in July, according to the Altavista Journal.

The Model T was a true antique, made all the more remarkable since it had belonged to the same family and hardly been moved from the same spot since 1953.

Locals had come to see it as something of a fixture within the community, as it was always on show in the window of Vista Motor Sales, until a little over a month ago.

It was purchased by local motor salesman, Henry Pittard and became a feature of the auto showroom which he co-owned. It was not until the mid 1970s that this particular example was shifted from a shed into a position by a street window, before which time another Model T had been perched on top of the showroom until it, too, was sold.

The new owner of the Model T is going to extensively restore it, as he is a true auto enthusiast and has had a long experience of working on old cars in order to bring back their original magic.
