Testament is paid to this fact by the recent auction of a 1956 Ford Zephyr Convertible, which took place in the UK last month, with this particular classic eventually selling for £22,412, or about $35,951.

What makes this Ford Zephyr desirable is its rarity and observers have pointed out that the new owner will have made a strong investment, because it is likely to hold onto its value and ideally appreciate in worth over the coming years.

The Zephyr is actually far more common in the UK than it is in the US, since it was manufactured in Britain for a home grown audience.

However, the name tag did end up on a number of cars built in America, including the Lincoln-Zephyr of the 1930s and the Mercury Zephyr of the 1980s. Some Ford Zephyr models were also imported from the UK during the 1950s heyday of this range, so it is a rare and valuable classic whichever country you happen to call your home sweet home.
