Classic Batmobiles race

Two extremely rare cars took part in an undeniably exciting match up this month, as part of a web series which looks to pit both powerful autos against one another, to see which is the quickest.

This race was worthy of note because it took place between a pair of Batmobiles used in live action adaptations of popular comic book hero, Batman's, adventures.

The older of the two cars was a Batmobile originally built in 1966 and driven by the Caped Crusader as portrayed by Adam West in the delightfully camp TV series.

The newer and yet still iconic 1989 Batmobile originates from Tim Burton's take on the tale of the Dark Knight, an altogether more noirish affair, suitable for grown up audiences on the big screen.

The 1966 model can top 160 miles per hour when going flat out, while the 1989 iteration is a little faster, with a top speed of 180mph.

While the winner in this kind of exhibition event is largely irrelevant, as both cars have their own fans and favourite features, in the end it was the 1966 classic which managed to cross the line first in this relatively non-scientific face off.
