A classic Aston Martin has sold for close to two million dollars during a recent auction of rare and vintage models from this venerable British manufacturer.

Aston Martins have been internationally popularized thanks to their appearances in the James Bond movie franchise over the years, with the recent sale of the DB4GT Zagato Sanction II Coupe able to clinch a new world record price for this marque.

Aston Martin built just 19 examples of this particular model during the 1960s, making it very rare, and, understandably, valuable.

Thirty years after the Sanction II first appeared, a trio of tribute models were built by Aston Martin, although these swapped out the original 3.7 litre engines for 352hp 4.2 litre examples. This meant that the replicas could hit 60mph in just five-and-a-half seconds, going on to hit 153mph at full throttle.

The auction contained many other classic Astons and made more than $10.25 million in total on the night. A 1962 Vantage Convertible and a 1963 DBS Convertible were able to make decent sums, although nothing came close to matching the Sanction II in terms of price at this auction.
