A classic 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle was voted to be the best overall vehicle during the Sawmill Day car show in Escambia, Florida.
The Chevrolet Chevelle, which is a classic of the golden era of American muscle cars, was not the only prize winner on the day, according to NorthEscambia.com.
A total of fifteen awards were handed out to owners of top tier vehicles, with the oldest prize winner being a 1930 Ford Model A.
All of the cars participating were built in 1970 or earlier and although there were lots of domestic stalwarts on offer, there were also a number of cars from foreign manufacturers, including a 1966 VW Beetle and a classic Mitsubishi.
The standard set by the cars was very high, which meant that competition was stiff and the Chevelle which was crowned champion is really an exemplary relic of a bygone age.
Fine weather and lots of other attractions helped to keep the crowds happy and although not all classic car shows have a competitive element to them, it is certainly rewarding for owners to see all of their hard work receive some recognition, when compared with the efforts of their peers.
