Buick Riviera charity raffle

A charity raffle recently hit the headlines because the top prize on offer to those who purchased a ticket was a 1967 Buick Riviera.
Not many raffles give you the chance to win a classic car, but the funds raised by the drive in Gridley, California, were going towards a good cause and so interest was high.
Tickets for the raffle were only $20 each, which is a small price when the opportunity to walk away with a Buick Riviera was on the table.
The stakes were raised because the family organising the charity raffle were offering just 200 tickets to members of the local community, with the money going towards paying for cancer treatment for Dennis Platter, according to the Gridley Herald.
The Riviera had a long history, dating from its early days in the 1960s, right up until its final generation in 1999.
This 1967 example is from the second generation, with its distinctive body shape, three speed automatic gearbox and V8 engine helping to make it an appealing classic.
This is arguably one of the best looking Riviera examples around and the range could be revived after a concept model made an appearance at this year's Shanghai Motor Show.
