Big bucks for vintage Toyota

A classic Toyota is likely to be the star of the show at the next RM Auctions event, to be held in Texas on April 27th.
While there will be the usual range of rare Ferraris and American vehicles on offer, it is this Japanese car that has caught the most attention.
While most buyers might be happy to stick with an affordable Toyota MR2, the model up for auction is actually a 2000GT, originally manufactured in 1967 and decked out in a Benedix Yellow paint job.
Although it is difficult to judge just how much the car will make at auction, estimates range from between $650,000 and $850,000, thanks to its unusualness.
Honest John reports that the 2000GT in question has been fully restored and is one of only 62 vehicles produced with a left hand drive setup from this range. When you consider these credentials, it is easier to appreciate why it has such a high predicted price.
Over the past decade, the value of the classic Toyota 2000GT has increased by a factor of three, showing you just how worthy of an investment it might have been just a few years ago.
