One of the world's oldest Minis is going to be put up for sale later in the year in an event that is sure to attract international attention.

The Austin Seven De Luxe Mini was the eighth car to roll out of the factory after production began, but unlike the three older vehicles that remain today, it is in need of extensive restoration.

Built in May 1959, this Mini has all the paperwork which proves its heritage, with its other three senior siblings belonging to a museum and two Japanese enthusiasts, respectively.

The Mini is admittedly not much to look at, as it has fallen into disrepair in recent years, with rust coating many of the surfaces both inside and out.

However, this will appeal to collectors not because of its condition but because of its authenticity and the fact that all of the original parts are still onboard.

When it is sold at the end of the month in the UK, the Mini is expected to make up to $24,000, although this could reach higher, if the right bidders are found.
