There are fewer things were quintessentially American (and more picture-perfect for a sunny Fourth of July) and a classic car cruise right down the middle of Main Street – which is exactly what a small town in Massachusetts was able to celebrate in this Fourth of July.
The people of Fitchburg (as well as thousands from surrounding areas) all descended upon Main Street waving some 5000 flags as firetrucks, classic cars, and a whole host of other homemade customized automobiles came cruising down the main drag is a celebration of everything that America means to each and every one of us.
There was a synchronized motorcycle police escort, firetrucks from all over central Massachusetts rolling down the tarmac in a convoy, but it was the classic car motorcade following these emergency service vehicles that really caught the eye of the majority of onlookers. There were old-school Model Ts, more than a few hot rods, and even a few Thunderbirds in the mix – but the real star of the show was a cherry red 1956 Ford Mustang and it looked just like it did the day it rolled off of the production line.
For a few hours this Fourth of July, the town of Fitchburg was able to have a bit of a throwback experience to a simpler time, a calmer time, a beautiful time – and it was all embodied in that cherry red Ford Mustang
