The Nissan Skyline range began life in the mid 1950s and has evolved significantly over the years, with the more common sedan models contrasted against high performance sports cars bearing the GT-R suffix.

This month, a Nissan Skyline GT-R R34 went on sale in California, with a garage based in Pleasanton offering this 1999 model for sale at a price of just under $50,000.

What makes this a particularly interesting deal is the fact that the car in question has hardly ever been used since it was originally built.

It has just 53 miles on the clock, which means it has averaged under five miles a year over the last 13 years.

With 450bhp and a number of factory fitted enhancements, this is a very appealing Japanese sports car, although there is a major caveat which buyers will need to take into account.

Since it is a right hand drive car imported to the US, there are virtually no states in which it can legally be registered for road use.

This means that the buyer will have to use it on private property or leave it looking pristine in their own garage, which is presumably what has happened ever since it was built.
