THE Corvette event of 2013

Corvette fans, dig out those calendars and mark down early March 2013 for a couple of days of 'Vette heaven.

On March 1 and 2 next year, the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles is holding an event for the 60th Corvette Anniversary.

Preceding the event itself, from 27 February, 2012, the museum will run a Corvette Exhibit, featuring 20 historic examples of the car. This special exhibition closes on 31 March, 2013.

But, back to the celebration of the anniversary, here's what's happening over the two days:

Friday, March 1, 2012

Corvette Values Seminar - curious to know the market value of your Corvette? Experts will be on hand to discuss the current and future value. Runs from 10.30 am to 12.00 pm, and ticket cost is $25.

Corvette Racing Panel Discussion - a look back to how the Corvette has fared on racing tracks all over the world, with some of those who have done the racing. Runs from 2.00 pm to 3.30 pm, ticket cost is $25.

Corvette 60th Anniversary Gala - only 350 tickets will be available for this event. Cocktails, dinner, memorabilia auction, and a panel discussion with some Corvette luminaries. Ticket cost is $125.

Saturday, March 2

Corvette Day Car Show - one for the owners to show off their cars, and for the rest us to admire. Five hundred Corvettes only will go on display in the Petersen Parking Structure from 9.00 am to 4.00 pm. Admission to the museum on the day also allows entry to this special event. Corvette owners, register early for this, the limit of 500 cars is firm.

Corvette Restoration Seminar - have some pros give you the tips and tricks to best maintain and restore a Corvette. Runs from 10.30 am to 12.00 pm, at a price of $25.
