Muscle cars & more in Iowa
2012-07-09
Muscle Cars & More is the name of the auction, and it takes place at the Iowa State Fairgrounds on July 20 and 21.
Run by Mecum Auctions, there are almost 500 cars going under the hammer, including muscle cars, rods and customs. Twenty lots are from the David Brown Collection, offered with no reserve price.
Highlights of the David Brown Collection include a 931 Ford Model A Rumble Seat Coupe, an R-code 1969 Mercury Cougar XR7 428 Cobra Jet (pictured above and below), and a 1970 Mercury Cyclone GT with 351 Cleveland power.

The vehicle auction action starts at 1.00 pm on the Friday, and at 10.00 am on the Saturday. On both days there will also be an auction of road art, that will take place 30 minutes prior to the start of the car auctions.
General admission tickets will be available at the gate for $15.00 per person, per day. Children 12 and younger are free. The auction will take place rain or shine, as it is all happening within the air-conditioned Varied Industries Building in the Iowa State Fairgrounds.
