An Aston Martin DB5, which was originally owned by George Harrison of The Beatles, was on display during the 2012 Concours d'Elegance of Texas, according to Your Houston News.
While the vehicle would typically be expected to make an appearance as one of the many classic cars for sale during the event, it has only recently been purchased by an unnamed American buyer, so admirers could only examine it in the flesh, not have a chance of actually owning it.
Its current keeper paid $550,000 for it at auction and has recently transported it back to his home in Texas, where it looks likely to remain as a worthy investment for some time.
There were of course plenty of classics for sale during the event, which was running for the first time ever at La Torretta Resort, on the shores of Lake Conroe.
Worldwide Auctioneers handled the running of the show, with bidders able to get involved in the action in person, via telephone or even through a high tech web stream, allowing for widespread attention to be focused on each sale.
The success of this year's auction will ideally result in a return during 2013, when further classics will go under the hammer.
