The Ford GT40 is one of the original American supercars and it was celebrated over the weekend thanks to an event organised by World Class Motoring (WCM).

Patch.com reports that WCM held a show at its headquarters in California this past Saturday, during which there were plenty of classic Ford GT40 models on show, alongside some of the more modern iterations of this marque.

The guest of honor and the real draw for the event was Camilo Prado, the man who was the designer of the revamped Ford GT, when it first emerged as a concept in the mid-1990s.

Mr Prado was more than happy to talk to fans of his classic car creation and signed more than a few autographs during the show.

The GT40 is known for its dominance of the Le Mans 24 Hour race during the 1960s and it continues to be held in very high regard to this day.

Many car collectors and enthusiasts have endeavored to keep the remaining GT40 examples in pristine condition and some are still used to take part in classic races, which points to the enduring legacy of this iconic sports car.
