The Californian city of San Jose was the venue for the 29th Annual Spring Meet held by members of the Vintage Volkswagen Club of America over the weekend, with hundreds of classic cars from this German manufacturer turning out for a great show.
There were vintage VW Beetles, camper vans and many more iconic autos from throughout the firm's history, including those dating from the 1950s and earlier.
One particularly long-lasting example was a 1954 VW coupe, driven by the Roberts family. According to Mercury News, this car was bought by husband and wife Jim and Madaline and used while they were raising their kids, who eventually went on to drive it themselves.
It then spent 38 years in their barn, where it fell into disrepair, but the couple decided to sell it at auction, where it was picked up by an auto enthusiast who was aware of its rarity. The car was actually one of a trio of VW coupes which fall under the Dannehauser & Strauss marque.
The restoration process began relatively recently and it was completed as quickly as possible in order to make sure that it would be in prime condition for its appearance at the show.
