Classic cars lined the streets of the Californian city of Tulare this month, as part of the Tower Classic Car Show, an annual celebration of all things automotive.

Over 150 vehicles are estimated to have taken part, with hundreds more locals from across the local area coming down to get involved in the fun and see the well-preserved cars up close.

Participant, Frank Furtaw, told the Visalia Times-Delta about his 1962 Dodge Dart Seneca (not the model pictured above, which is the 1960), which he has been taking to shows for over ten years, after having restored it with his son.

Mr Furtaw said that his vintage vehicle, which was originally in service as a police car, still attracts plenty of attention when he takes it out on the road.

Because its iconic looks still hark back five decades to its time on patrol, Mr Furtaw says that other drivers often behave deferentially when he is behind the wheel, giving way and even putting on their seatbelts, despite the fact that neither he nor the car possess any authority.

There were plenty of other examples of great American automotive ingenuity on display during the show, which will be back next year for more fun during the Easter break.
