The manager of the Tampa Bay Rays has gifted himself a new vintage vehicle, to celebrate the extension of his contract with the team over the next three years.
Joe Maddon is a big fan of classic cars and the 1956 Chevy Bel Air which he bought this month indicates that his taste for the finer things in life is not diminishing.
A report in the Tampa Bay Times, suggests that Mr Maddon picked up the vehicle from its previous owner in Arizona and has paid to have extensive restoration work applied to its previously fragile form.
Mr Maddon also seems set on driving the car regularly once the baseball season gets into full swing, so it will not be sitting under a dust sheet looking pretty but lacking attention.
There were a number of different classic cars being eyed up by Mr Maddon, including models like the Barracuda and Charger, although it was the Bel Air which really caught his eye.
The navy blue and cream paint job, plus a newly refurbished interior, gives this particular classic Chevy plenty of charm and luxury impact, which is certainly befitting a major manager at a successful team.
