Over 300 classic cars met for the final time this year at a shopping mall parking lot to take part in the Tri-State Cruisers event, which has been held during the summer months each year since 1993.

The group is headed up by Dick Salvus, who owns a pristine 1957 Chevvy and he explained that the meetings have helped to raise over $100K over their lifetime, all of which has gone to charity. In fact over $10K has been made since May of this year, when the group began meeting, showing how people are still generous with their cash, even in turbulent economic times.

Most of the money is donated to a summer camp, run to help children and their families dealing with life-threatening illnesses, to give them some time away from home.

The kids from the camp also get involved in the weekly event during the summer, coming to see the classic cars and learning more about the vehicles from their dedicated owners.

Mr Salvus not only helps organise the events and sort out the fund raising, but he is also responsible for the music, putting on a selection of hits to give each meeting a party atmosphere.
