Located on
Petit Jean
Mountain,
The Museum
of Automobiles was founded in 1964 by the
late Arkansas Governor
Winthrop Rockefeller. It housed his
collection of
Antique & Classic Automobiles until 1975,
when the Collection was sold, and the building
and grounds donated to the State of Arkansas,
Department of Parks.
The Museum of
Automobiles is a collection of legends in chrome
and glass, magic moments captured forever in
leather and lacquer. The museum is built more of
memories than of masonry. You will see cars you
remember, cars you heard about, cars you dreamed
about. It has a profound effect on us, this
wonderful machine called the automobile. Because
the autos are privately owned, the displays at
the Museum are in a state of constant change. At
least one-third of the cars on display are
changed annually. You can visit again and again
and see new automobiles on each visit.
