MG BGT, for sale in Stratford, Connecticut, for $17,500.

a beautiful, restored later model GT. The nicest we have ever had.

Last two owners did new floors, front fenders, sills and rockers, and every piece of sheet metal necessary to produce a virtually perfect body shell. Then repainted in original black. AND VERY STRAIGHT with perfect panel and door fit. Impressive.

Rebuilt engine to a high spec, balanced, high lift cam, ported head, all new internals, probably 110+hp, rebuilt SUs, 4 speed with rebuilt overdrive, rebuilt brakes and suspension, excellent wiring, new tan leather seats, new interior panels (all in Honey Tan) with custom added door pockets, new tan carpets, perfect dash with wood trim covering, stereo/CD with iPod input, new speakers, oil cooler, alloy bonnet, all new chrome, new Monza exhaust, LOTS of usable accessories. . back up fuel pump, electronic ignition, supplemental electric cooling fan, Moto Lita wood steering wheel, new tan 3 pt belts, halogen headlights, Lucas driving lights wired through a relay to the hi beam switch, the list continues. . . . . .

New air conditioning system installed. . . works perfectly and makes this BGT into one wonderful alternative to a modern car. Even has a second heater which is very effective.

I am sure somewhere there is a better MGBGT but not THAT much better. Offered with painted or new chrome wire wheels or an expensive set of knock off 6\"Minilite alloy wheels (with 185/70HR14 Sumitomo high speed radials), excellent interior (in leather), tons of accessories. A great GT.

And what a usable classic! Cruises quietly and securely at 80-85+ mph (and should top out at over 115 mph), wonderful ride, steering, handling, and a joy to drive. We have added most everything we could think of to add to reliability. And how can you beat the color combination of black with Honey tan interior?

So here is the story behind this elaborately done car. . . made a deal to take my old red 1968 BGT back in trade on a roadster. Was thrilled. . one of those cars I probably shouldn't have sold. A fun Fall, Spring, and Winter classic that was still quite usable and enjoyable during summer months. So the deal was made and on a recent Thursday, it was back in my possession. Better than the day I sold it. . with a new windshield and reupholstered back seat.

THEN. . same day, was offered this black '73B from a local guy. Had put a fortune into the car but was short of money and had to (sadly) wave bye bye to his lovely classic. And by Thursday afternoon, had TWO BGTs. One too many?

Anyway, finished this car off the way I wanted and one of these two cars is gonna have to go. My red '68 or my black '73. And whichever goes, the other one is going to remain in my barn.

I love BGTs. Nice, quiet, smooth, comfortable, reliable, easy to maintain sports/GT cars of ample performance, fantastic economy, and with both of these, overdrive. Adding a definite amusement value.

A nice classic incapable of depreciating, no need to worry about adding miles and its affect on value, cruise nicely well above the speed limit, ample room for luggage or purchases, a nice touring car. Just like when they were new. On a recent trip with the a/c on half the time, cruising at 65-85 mph, got 28.5 mpg. Quick, comfortable, distinctive, and even. . . economical.

So, interested in a budget priced GT car with real style and enjoyment?
