MG A 1600 Mk I, for sale in Stratford, Connecticut, for $28,000.
Talk about an interesting 'barn find, ' a rust free MGA that was stored for 50 years and only indicates 24,000 original miles.
Excellent drive train, 145psi compression in every cyclinder, 70+ psi oil pressure when warm, no smoke, smooth and powerful performance, clutch, trans, back axle, etc all seem to be in very good condition. Interior is tired as is the paint (actually the paint is just dirty and, for a lower price, we could just touch it up and wet sand/buff and wax it. Is incredibly well preserved)
Checked the front end. . . nice and tight, bushings, kingpins, t/r/ends, etc. Brakes just finished. . new master cylinder, rebuilt calipers (new stainless steel pistons, new seals), new wheel cylinders, new shoes and pads. Clutch hydraulics just rebuilt. Carbs completely disassembled, cleaned and rebuilt.
Wiring: everything works. . gauges, lights, wipers, turn signals, horn, etc. And the harness itself looks really good. . note photo taken under the dash. And we also fitred a new solid state fuel pump.
VERY CLOSE to be finished. . . fenders removed, painted in old English White (even inside the wheel wells, engine bay, trunk, door jambs, etc. ), new fender beading, dash removed and stripped to the bare metal, recovered in red material, matching red leather seats (with new foam padding), matching red carpets, interior panels, trunk carpet, spare wheel cover, etc. Mostly new chrome, new top, new rubber windshield and light seals, ABSOLUTELY gorgeous.
And one of the nicest MGAs we have ever had for sale.
ALL photos taken before work began. . . a beautiful, original, fantastic MGA now thoroughly reconditioned and ready for show, driving, and enjoying.
