Lincoln Mark V, White, for sale in Charlotte, North Carolina, for $19,995.
Despite decades of engineering progress, nobody has managed to duplicate the floating, effortless feeling of a true American Luxury car like this 1977 Lincoln Mark V. With a giant V8 up front, chiseled features, and just 18,226 original miles, this is as close as you're going to find to the new car driving experience. If you were at the top of the world in 1977, THIS is what you drove.
With such low mileage, you know the bodywork on this car is immaculate. Body gaps and fit are still just as the assembly line workers bolted it together, and the paint is as nice as 1977 technology would allow. The original burgundy vinyl padded roof remains in outstanding, unblemished condition thanks to years of careful ownership, and the chrome is factory fresh. Even the matching pinstripes that run the length of the body remain completely intact. Lenses, the hood ornament, and the rub strip along the lower flanks of the car are all in showroom fresh condition. And yes, the folding headlights work properly. This is as close as you're going to find to a new car.
Inside, the pillow-tufted burgundy velour interior is the epitome of '70s luxury. Sure, it looks a little bit like Hugh Hefner's living room, but you can't argue with the preservation and amazing comfort levels. You are enveloped by soft power driver's seat, which offers plenty of support for long-haul cruising. There are a lot of controls for all the power options, ranging from power windows and locks, to cruise control on the steering wheel, to the Twilight Sentinel that automatically turns the headlights on and off. Of course, A/C and a tilt wheel are included, as well as an AM/FM/CB stereo with microphone (this was 1977, after all). Deep pile carpet and tons of sound insulation reduce wind noise to little more than a whisper. The trunk shows well, with fabric mats and what may be the original spare tire that has never been used.
Lincoln's 460 V8 won the displacement war, as Cadillac downsized to a 425 V8. Entirely original and showing immaculate maintenance, the engine bay is packed with wires and hoses, all dedicated to making the big Lincoln waft along in eerie silence. The big V8 makes enough torque to give the sensation of limitless acceleration, much like an electric motor, and drives the power accessories without hesitation. Hoses, belts, and other routine maintenance items have been replaced, but for the most part it's 100% stock and original under the hood. A 3-speed automatic shifts almost imperceptibly, and the chassis is extremely clean. Optional alloy turbine wheels wear 235/75/15 Kelly radials, probably only the second set of tires this car has ever worn.
The world will never again see cars like this, and you'll be amazed by how well this one looks, drives and handles, and it comes with a ton of original factory documentation, including the window sticker. Call today!
